Between protective suits and social media

An internship at S-GARD
I’m Mila, I’m studying Media Management and Journalism and I’m doing a five-week internship in the marketing department at S-GARD during my semester break. There is never a dull moment in marketing at S-GARD and you experience new and varied tasks every day. The primary tasks include developing an optimal marketing strategy for the target group, planning posts on social media, attending meetings, but tasks such as shooting videos or filming products also make the internship exciting. By working closely with the other departments at S-GARD, you quickly gain a good understanding of how the company works and at the same time gain an insight into different departments. It was very easy to familiarise yourself with the company, especially thanks to the friendly and open-minded team. From day one, you were warmly welcomed and integrated and can take part in discussions, meetings and presentations as a fully-fledged team member.
A typical internship day
A typical internship day starts at 8.30 am. The first marketing meeting starts at 9 a.m., where the day’s upcoming events and tasks are discussed. I then dedicate myself to my tasks for the day. The tasks include, for example, creating Instagram posts with InDesign, filming photos and videos of the products, insight analyses and developing suitable marketing ideas for the target group. Shooting the odd funny TikTok with colleagues is also part of the job.

So there’s never a dull moment during an internship at S-GARD. My personal highlight was the photo shoot in Weeze, where I was even allowed to stand in front of the camera as an extra. Overall, the internship not only provided me with useful skills for my future career, but also gave me interesting insights into the firefighting industry and the development of protective suits.
I can definitely benefit from this experience in my future working life.
