That was our Best Of 2019 in Heitersheim

11 stations – rescuing a casualty over open water, well thought-out decontamination in a hazardous goods operation or extinguishing a gas fire – scenarios that can occur in everyday operations were run through. Three workshops from our current Safetytour training programme were held in parallel to the team training on the open-air site.

All participants were randomly divided into groups. Real teams were quickly formed from a wide variety of fire brigades and countries. „It’s great fun to train for emergencies in this special way. You don’t know the people at first and have to solve difficult tasks,“ says Maximilian, participant in the BEST OF event.

Teamwork! That’s the best way to describe the BEST OF event. „All the teams grew together after the first station and you can see the team spirit and the will to win,“ says Michael van Helden, Safetytour trainer.

Thanks to the Heitersheim fire brigade, the event was a complete success. All of the fire brigade’s comrades lent a hand. On the two days before the event, a number of stations and paths were prepared and the hall set up for the event. The Malteser Hilfsdienst e. V. provided catering on site. „The event would not have been possible without the Heitersheim fire brigade,“ says Klaus Hawerkamp, Sales Manager S-GARD Protective Clothing. „The preparations by our trainers were supported here by plenty of manpower from the Heitersheim fire brigade,“ says Bruno Schmitz, Managing Director of S-GARD Schutzkleidung.
