Flax Museum

Did you know that S-GARD was founded 134 years ago? Back then, Hubert Schmitz laid the foundation stone for the S-GARD brand without realising it.

But Hubert Schmitz GmbH did not produce high-quality protective clothing right from the start. Initially, fabrics were made from jute and flax. These were used as covered wagon covers, windmill coverings and as sailcloth for the Dutch Maas shipping industry.

And it is precisely this beginning that is revisited and exhibited in the Flax Museum. There is S-GARD history to touch. There are various materials to look at and feel and a suit to look at.

In addition, many topics relating to protective clothing are revisited and explained. For example, „Why doesn’t the material used burn?“ or „How long can you walk through fire“.

Of course, the complete S-GARD history is also summarised and described.

We are delighted to be part of a museum exhibition and to be able to familiarise non-firefighters with the topic.
