A look back: Fit for event 2017

Fit for event 2017
An island in a state of emergency: our annual FIT FOR event took place in Baabe on the island of Rügen from 25 to 27 May. Not only our training courses, but also temperatures of over 30 °C created a really hot atmosphere.
Our participants really worked up a sweat during this year’s workshops. While the sun shone brightly over Rügen, the firemen and women showed real commitment. On one day, it was so hot that headgear had to be spontaneously organised for all participants. One of the training sessions also took place in the swimming pool at the Baabe Mother and Child Clinic. Even jumping into the water was only partially cooling – it was already 30 °C warm. It got even hotter during the Thermo-Man® demonstration: visitors were able to experience the fire resistance of S-GARD protective clothing live. Many thanks for this to the DuPont company.
The FIT FOR HAZMAT workshop on NBC hazard defence surprised many: „I could never have imagined having so much fun in a team when dealing with hazardous substances,“ enthused one participant. Another reported: „Now I understand what the team concept means.“ The 2017 training event was a complete success. „A very successful mix of games, action and knowledge transfer,“ concluded one participant after the weekend. And we wholeheartedly agree with him.
Another piece of good news: we were able to support dolphin therapy for little Lena with the big raffle. Finally, we would like to say a big thank you to the Baabe fire brigade, whose members helped us diligently. Also a big thank you to all the trainers, participants and partners. We are already looking forward to FIT FOR 2018!
